"I have chosen the rainbow as a symbol of global peace and unity.
  The rainbow is the symbol of God's everlasting covenant between Himself and the earth, that He will never again destroy the earth by flood.  In this covenant He included every living creature, man and animals.  To me it symbolises every nation and person on earth. 
I live in South Africa and we are known as the "Rainbow Nation" We have so many diverse peoples, tribes speaking different languages (12 official languages) people from different ethnic groups, different historical and cultural backgrounds.  Yet after coming through a dark period in history, by the grace of God we are learning to love one another, to understand, forgive and help one another to work together to amalgamate into one nation that you can truly say is a Rainbow Nation! Each part/colour contribution to the bright new whole.
As the rainbow appears after a storm when the sun shines, so the Light of God will break through the dark times in earth's history to bring about a new earth where we will all be able to love one another and live in peace our differences contributing to the harmony."
