Peace And Old Earth's Treasures
Rachel Theo Bowers
Hagerstown, MD, USA

Old Earth, I look at you
And wonder what you're hiding.
We think we've seen it all;
But know that everything's just biding
Until such time you choose,
To divulge by ones and twos,
Things we haven't seen,
Or even dreamed of -
Down in deep caves,
And in deeper ocean wells,
Higher up on mountains,
Or in some crack or crevice
On plain land which never tells,
In ponds and tidewaters,
On seashores and lakes.
Who knows what bit of luck
Or giant effort it takes,
To find these gems
Which await our eyes
And exclamations,
If only peace would reign
Among the nations.
